Our policies are pretty simple and straight forward. I try to treat people how I would want to be treated when adding a new family member to my family. I don’t ever want to make anyone feel like they are bothering me because they have questions or want more information, I am here to help you get the best fit for your family, so please never feel like you are bothering me. However, as the breeder/owner of these puppies, I reserve the right to refuse anyone a puppy that I am not comfortable with and I have and will exercise this right. These puppies and dogs are my babies and I want to make sure they are going to good homes.
To reserve a puppy
In order to reserve a puppy, a $300 non-refundable deposit is required. If you are unable to meet me (and the puppy) in person, I can send you a paypal invoice for the deposit or you can mail me the deposit, along with some general information. This deposit goes towards the final purchase of the puppy. However, if you decide not to get the puppy after the deposit has been paid, it is non-refundable and will not be returned.
Lately, we have had so many people wanting to add our babies to their families that we are accepting pre-deposits. A pre-deposit is $300 and is also non-refundable. The pre-deposit holds your place in line for a certain gender. Once the babies are born, I send out a birth announcement telling you how labor and delivery went and how many babies were born, etc. Once the puppies are two weeks old, we post videos of each new baby for people to choose from based on how the deposits were received. I also send out videos or pictures every other weekend so that you can watch your new baby grow with us. We allow visitors 10 days after they have received their six week shots and are more protected from outside germs. And pick up is at eight weeks old.
Pre-deposits are non-refundable. We have a large waiting list and it isn't fair for us to turn people away. We try our best to make sure we are accurate on the predictions of our future litters to better serve our expecting families but we cannot always predict mother nature. Pre-deposits are first come, first serve, if you are looking for a particular time frame we will work with you the best that we can, so long as you understand that there are things that are sometimes outside of our control.
We now have a few training options that we offer to our puppy owners, which can truly benefit your new puppy and his/her transition into their new home and help you as well.
Option Number One:
While they are here, we can start basic obedience training. We teach them how to walk on a leash, sit, lay down and stay, we also work on kennel training. The puppy stays with us an additional two weeks and pick up is at 10 weeks old.
Option Number Two:
While your puppy is here, we can kennel train them. This makes the process easy once they go to your home. Pick up still at 8 weeks but makes bedtime a lot easier once they are home!
Option Number Three:
Once your puppy gets home and as they grow, they may develop some bad habits that you may not be able to get under control. At any time, you can bring them back and we will work with them here. Work on their bad habits and then teach you to continue the work at home.
Picking up your new Puppy
Once the puppy is old enough to leave me and go to his/her new home, there are a couple of different options available to you. You can come to our home and pick him/her up. I will meet you pretty much anywhere in Iowa, but I do ask for fuel reimbursement. If these options are something that you can do, please bring cash as your final payment or you can also pay with a credit/debit card via PayPal now or I can send you a PayPal invoice. You do get a receipt for the total amount paid for your puppy. There is a fee associated with PayPal. The puppy can also be shipped to you (please see below)
Shipping Your Puppy
Puppies can be shipped only after they are 8 weeks old according to airline regulations. Shipping generally costs around $375. If you need your puppy shipped to you there are a couple of things that need to happen. Since I am unable to meet with you in person, I will probably ask you a lot of questions because our puppies are like my babies and I want to make sure that they are going to good homes. After your deposit is paid and once the puppy is near the 8 week old mark, I will start looking for a flight. I ship on Delta or United out of Des Moines, Iowa. Since I work Monday through Friday, we ship on Saturdays. I need the name of the person picking up the puppy, your address as it appears on your license (id), mailing address (if different) and a phone number. Once the reservation is created, I will email you all the important information and flight details. Once this has been emailed to you, I will send you a second paypal invoice for the remaining balance and the cost of the flight (non-refundable) This will need to be paid 72 hours before the flight. The puppy will come with a kennel that he/she is shipped in which is included in the cost of the airfare that I bill to you, so it is yours to keep. Your puppy will also have with him/her tucked in the sealed airline envelope the AKC registration, shot records and any other items that you will need.
Full and Limited Registration
For 99% of people, it will not matter to them if their puppy is limited (pet) or full (breeding/showing) registration, however there are some people that do care. For those of you who want full registration, I must be completely comfortable that my puppy is not going to end up in a cage somewhere, unloved. I raise these babies because I love my dogs and I love and adore the puppies. I would rather make less money and sell you a pet than make more money and worry about where my puppy is going. I reserve the right to refuse anyone full registration and will use that right if I am not comfortable. I may ask for vet and customer references. So, unless someone specifically asks for full registration, it is defaulted to limited registration.
Bernese Mountain Dog Limited Registration (For a Pet) $1300
Full Registration (Breeding/Showing) $2000 - $2500
Our Health Guarantee
Your puppy will come with a lifetime guarantee against common genetic diseases and a three hip guarantee, through full maturity, starting August 2019. Please keep in mind, that a puppy/dog is a living breathing soul and this health guarantee does not guarantee that your baby will never get sick with common illnesses for his/her entire life. We guarantee our puppies because we are confident in the health and wellness of our own dogs and the testing that we have done. We try our best to make sure that we are making the breed better with every puppy. When you come and pick up your puppy, we ask that you take your puppy to your vet within 3 days and mail that back to us to seal the guarantee.
